Overview

The Credit Admin Specialist is responsible for managing the flow of loan applications from submission through closing. Verifying loan terms, details and preparing loan documents. This includes receiving and verifying required documentation, ensuring loans meet underwriting and regulatory requirements, coordinating with Personal Bankers and internal teams, and preparing loans for disbursement. The role plays a critical part in delivering an efficient and member-focused lending experience. May require occasional overtime during peak periods.

Responsibilities

  • Review Consumer Loan Applications: Review incoming loan applications for accuracy and completeness:
    • Financial
    • Employment
    • Income
    • Collateral documentation (Loan Term, Rates, VIN and collateral ownership, Payment Protection, GAP/MPI, Disbursal Details, and Signers on loans.)
  • Coordinate with Internal Stakeholders: Collaborate with personal bankers, underwriters, and other departments to ensure timely and accurate loan processing.
  • Prepare Files for Closing: follow up on outstanding conditions; ensure compliance with credit union policies and applicable regulations. Review loan documentation to identify issues and ensure compliance with credit union policies and procedures.
  • Ensure Regulatory Compliance: Maintain adherence to lending laws and regulations such as REG Z, TILA, HMDA, and Fair Lending practices.
  • Maintain Accurate Records: Document all communication and maintain up-to-date records, ensuring that all supporting loan documentation is uploaded in the loan origination system.
  • Provide Administrative Support: Assist with auditing files, post-closing follow-up, and other duties as assigned.
  • Support Team Communication: Ensure proper communication is delivered through phone, email, Teams, etc. Assist associates when they have questions or concerns.
  • Escalate Significant Issues: Notify the Centralized Lending Manager of any significant issues, including instances of misrepresentation or fraud on loan applications.
  • Protect Member Privacy: Maintain strict confidentiality of member information.
  • Support Departmental Goals: Assume additional responsibilities as directed by management to support departmental and organizational goals.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s degree in business or finance preferred.
  • Minimum 1-2 years of preferred experience in loan processing or a related role, preferably within a financial institution.
  • Experience analyzing personal and business tax returns as part of the loan evaluation process.
  • Strong understanding of lending policy and procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Proficiency with loan origination software and Microsoft Office.
  • Capable of working independently while maintaining a focus on achieving production and quality goals.
  • Ability to easily adapt to change, embrace new ideas, and thrive in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks under time-sensitive conditions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
