Overview

The Lending Systems Specialist (LSS) is responsible for optimizing the credit union’s consumer and mortgage lending systems to ensure efficient workflows, regulatory compliance, and exceptional member experience. This role plays a critical part in aligning lending system functionality with the credit union’s strategic goals by exercising sound judgment in system optimization, balancing operational efficiency with effective risk management. The position requires strong technical expertise and an in-depth understanding of lending operations to drive operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Develop deep expertise in the lending system(s), leveraging configurable features to create, optimize, and support workflows, integrations, credit and pricing policies, communication processes, and auto-decisioning models.
  • Serve as the primary administrator for loan origination and servicing system(s), ensuring optimal performance, reliability, scalability, and data integrity.
  • Collaborate with IT, vendors, and internal stakeholders to troubleshoot and resolve system issues, implement upgrades, influence roadmap priorities, and support system integrations that address business challenges.
  • Oversee loan forms within lending system(s), document mapping, data migration initiatives, and structured system configurations, including credit box setup to ensure alignment with organizational policies and procedures.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and enhance loan processing workflows to ensure accuracy, timeliness, member satisfaction, and alignment with organizational performance goals.
  • Evaluate key performance indicators (KPIs) for loan operations, implement system-level improvements, and provide actionable insights to enhance system and process performance.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations, including the Military Lending Act, Servicemembers Civil Relief Act, and fair lending requirements, through system-level controls and enhancements.
  • Support regulatory audits and examinations by providing requested system documentation, reporting, and evidence of compliance.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of configured business processes, workflows, system configurations, and policy requirements.
  • Partner with the Lending Systems Manager on strategic initiatives, including system upgrades, new technology implementation, process improvements, associate support and troubleshooting, and communication of any adverse system-driven portfolio conditions.
  • All duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience in loan operations, or a related role within the financial services industry, credit union experience a plus.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of lending practices, regulations, and compliance.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in loan origination systems, core banking platforms, and related.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and create actionable.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and project management.
  • The ability to work independently or within a team setting and maintain a high degree of concentration.
  • Ability to work additional hours as needed.
