Overview

The AVP of Legal Operations & Corporate Services is a senior leader responsible for advancing organizational effectiveness, alignment, and execution across key enterprise functions. Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer and General Counsel, this role focuses on integrating legal operations, insurance program administration, and system optimization in support of the organization.

 

This position promotes alignment across organizational systems and workflows, legal operations, and workplace environments to support a cohesive and effective organization. The AVP partners with business units to strengthen consistency, improve coordination, and support the Credit Union’s strategic priorities through disciplined execution.

Responsibilities

Legal & Administrative Operations

  • Coordinate and manage the lifecycle of legal matters, including contracts, litigation, and external counsel engagements.
  • Establish and maintain clear and consistent processes for tracking legal activity, documentation, deadlines, and approvals.
  • Support the General Counsel in legal operations and management of legal matters, including organization of external counsel activity, tracking of legal matters, and facilitation of timely communication and progression.
  • Manage relationships with external legal counsel, insurance brokers, and other professional service providers, including performance expectations, coordination, and service delivery.

 

Insurance Program Administration

  • Provide oversight of the Credit Union's corporate insurance programs (excluding employee health plans), ensuring effective policy administration, timely renewals, broker relationship management, claims coordination, and accurate maintenance of coverage records.
  • Maintain complete, organized, and audit-ready records of coverage.
  • Partner with leadership and external brokers to support effective administration and alignment of insurance-related processes.

 

Innovation & Organizational Effectiveness

  • Lead initiatives that advance organizational effectiveness through the alignment and refinement of key organizational systems and workflows.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and clarity across the enterprise and support implementation in partnership with business units.
  • Provide senior leadership with clear and organized views into key activities to support informed decision-making and progress on administrative priorities.

 

Administrative Systems and Public-Use Optimization

  • Lead strategic efforts to optimize administrative systems and public-facing spaces, ensuring alignment with organizational standards and overall user experience.
  • Coordinate high-level planning for executive and organizational events, focusing on strategic alignment and experience rather than logistical execution.
  • Partner cross-functionally to ensure systems, processes, and physical environments operate cohesively to support productivity and organizational effectiveness.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, legal studies, or a related field required; advanced degree or relevant certifications preferred.
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in legal operations, administrative management, insurance administration, or related functions.
  • Strong process management and organizational skills, with the ability to lead and support complex workflows across multiple functions.
  • Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally and influence outcomes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to produce clear, executive-level materials.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with a focus on continuous improvement and operational effectiveness.
  • Ability to manage sensitive information with discretion and sound judgment.
  • Ability to structure, align, and advance complex enterprise functions across multiple areas while maintaining accuracy and consistency.
  • Sound judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to partner effectively across business units.
